IPL auction 2012 was over and Lalit Modi Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner said the IPL auction 2012 rigged and 2009 IPL auctions were also rigged to allow Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to hold England all-rounder Andrew Flint off.
Modi’s statements on Sahara boss Subrata Roy’s claim that the IPL lacked a level-playing field and rules were pulled to favor the influential teams.
Modi suggests Mumbai Indians was the other team for which rules had been pulled and that Sahara’s pullout both from the national team’s sponsorship and from the IPL would cost the BCCI Rs 10,000 crore. Modi said this type of riggings will not work which was done by BCCI and those will hurt Indian cricketers.
Chennai Super Kings incidentally, is owned by Indian cricket board BCCI president N Srinivasan, he was immediate to reject Narendra Modi’s assertions. Narendra Modi said the rules have been changed to favor some famous BCCI members.
According to sources, Narendra Modi said that the sale of Flintoff to Super Kings had been influenced. That responsibility was on me and as chairman I should have not allowed that to happen then. I was arm-twisted to let Andrew Flintoff to go to Chennai Super Kings. I’m to guilt for that. It’s a fact.
Board president Srinivasan BCCI secretary told there was absolutely no truth to Narendra Modi’s claims. All I can say is that there is completely no matter or fact in what he is saying. If he is talking about 2009 why is he saying all this in 2012?.
