Kolkata got a new Guinness World record sees 485 children dressed as Mahatma Gandhi turning up for a peace walk. This new world record is successful by the 485 boys.
10-16 years age children took part in the walk named Rise Up from near Gandhi’s statue on Mayo Road in the presence of his granddaughter Usha Gokani.

Old world record: It was conducted by 255 children dressed as Mahatma Gandhi at an event organized by the AVB Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district 2010.
Panchu Srivastava and Gopal Das feel it as a special day and also all the children feel it as a special day they wore dresses made from khadi and sported glasses with round lense frame. Panchu Srivastava and Gopal Das mothers live in the locations of event organizers Training Resources and Care for Kids (Tracks) an NGO based at Amatala in West Bengal’s Howrah district. From few months onwards event organizers had been preparing things for Mahatma Gandhi getup to the children.
Nikhil Shukla said it was capable of the editors of the Guinness World Records Ltd (GWRL) to make a decision whether the record will feature in its annual publication. Every year GWRL receive 40,000 applications worldwide. Only a small percentage of them are successful.
London-headquartered Guinness World Records Ltd has 2 offices in Asia at Tokyo and Beijing. They would love to have an office in India, but they are not yet finalized.
