India got Independence on 15 August 1947 but it does not have the permanent law of the land for ruling the country till 26th January 1950. The constitution of India came to implement on 26th January 1950. On 28 August 1947, Indian Constituent Assembly drafting Committee was selected to draft a permanent constitution, with Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar as chairman.
After the discussions the 308 assembly members signed 2 hand-written copies of the document on 24 January 1950. The Constitution of India became the law of all the Indian lands. Then Constitution of India was passed on 26 November 1949, but it came into effect only on 26 January 1950. After that Indian Republic officially came into force on 26th Jan 1950.
