Latest News on Telangana, Andhra Pradesh (AP) is facing a big problem for the ongoing indefinite general strike by Telangana leaders. Because of heated Telangana strike people troubled in Telangana & Andhra finally Telangana will get success or not?. Telangana strike is for separate Telangana, it started on September 13th still it continues today. This is the severe situation in AP. Heavy power cuts are compulsory in the state with industries and agriculture.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 3rd October 2011 demanding for immediate creation of a separate state. PM did not commit to anything on Telangana’s formation. He failed to instill confidence in us. Our agitation will continue, we have no choice. The strike will continue till we have a roadmap for Telangana, said KCR after the meeting.
Power demand and supply has extended to 50 Million Units per day with the demand touching a mountain of 275 MU because of continued dry spell in the state.
According to sources, the government run Power Transmission Corporation of AP has officially declared a three-day Power Holiday to industries in the state while it is finding it difficult to ensure 8 hour power supply to the agriculture sector in from districts such as Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar in Telangana region that crops have started withering due to non-availability of power.
Thermal power generation at AP Power Generation Corporation’s units in the state has now fallen to 3,000 MW as against the installed capacity of 5,093 MW.
Strike in Singareni Collieries coal fields from September 13th 2011 as part of the general strike in Telangana, has decreased coal production to 37,000 tonnes per day as against the normal 1.5 lakh tonnes. It leads to severe shortage in production.
The National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) unit at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district has been forced to shut down one of its units, resulting in a loss of 500 MW. The total loss of thermal power due to severe coal deficit is around 56 MU per day.
CM Kiran Kumar Reddy said, if we want to buy power from the open market, it is not readily available, required power should be supplied to the agriculture sector and save the standing Kharif crops. He has told Transco officials to increase the duration of power cuts in urban areas, if required, and supply adequate power to the farms.
Telangana is doing strike from September 13th, but no response from the Government or officials. Many Telangana people were arrested from the starting day of strike then also it is continuing today. Don’t use AC’s to reduce the power consumption, co-operate with the power utilities to overcome the present situation.
