Kolkata Municipal Election Results West Bengal; KMC Results 2010: Mamata Banerjee has received the much awaited giant victory from Kolkata. Her TMC (Trinamool Congress) has swept the Bengal civic polls. She won 97 seats out of a total of 141. This is a profit of 55 seats from the Trinamool Congress in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Mamata Banerjee’s victory led her party to demand that the state elections scheduled to be held next year to be brought forward. Saugata Ray, TMC leader stated “The Left front is already a defeated party. People have opted for the leadership of Mamata Banerjee. If they (Left) have any sense of self-respect, they should resign and pave the way for an election.” Nilotpal Basu of the CPI(M) told that they do not demand for early elections.

Congress, which fought the polls without any seat adjustment with the Trinamool Congress, was way behind with a lead only in seven seats while others led in three. In another prestigious municipality Bidhannagar (Salt Lake) adjoining Kolkata, the Trinamool Congress was well ahead of the Left Front leading in 18 out of a total 25 wards. Left Front was leading in seven wards. At present, the Left Front is in power in both the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and the Bidhannagar municipalities.

CPM should resign and honour the peoples’ sentiments. Paribartan will be the sole goal. CPM won’t win a single seat in Assembly Polls.
