In the new Forbes list, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has emerged as the richest person in the world with $53.5 billion in assets, while Oil baron Mukesh Ambani and steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal have made it to the list of Forbes World’s top 10 billionaires.
Ambani, Reliance Industries chairman with $29 billion ranked fourth in the list, while Mittal, Chairman Arcelor Mittal, with a fortune of $28.7 billion has claimed the fifth place. Forbes has described Ambani as the one of the 24 Indian billionares
Mexican telecom tycoon Carlo Slim Helu with $53.5 billion is the new topper on the list, by being $500 million ahead of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
Gates, with $53 billion slipped to the second place, followed by legendary investor Warren Buffet who ranked third with $47 billion.
The only woman to be on the top ten list, at number ten, is German entrepreneur Karl Albrecht, who founded the Aldi supermarkets and has a net worth of $23. 5 billion.
Four Indians figure among World’s top 50 billionaires in the Forbes list.
Azim Premji, chariman of Wipro technologies ranked 28 with a fortune of $17.0 billion.
Shashi & Ravi Ruia brothers with $13.0 billion shared the 40th spot, while Savitri Jindal, head of O P Jindal Group , with a fortune of $12.2 billion secured the 44th position.
New York has more billionaires than any other city.
The youngest billionaire who has a net worth of four billion dollars is 25-year-old Mark Zuckerberg who created Facebook.
The list of Indian billionaires include Mukesh Ambani and L N Mittal in the top two along with Azim Premji ( $17 billion), Anil Ambani ($13.7 billion), Shashi and Ravi Ruia ($13 billion), Savitri Jindal ($12.2 billion), Kushal Pal Singh ($9 billion), Kumar Birla ($7.9 billion), Sunni Mittal ($7.8 billion) and Anil Agarwal ($6.4 billion dollars).
