Taslima Nasreen article in Kannada newspaper sparks violence in Shimoga

Taslima Nasreen translated article in a Kannada newspaper sparked violence in Shimoga in which at least two people have lost their life. Curfew has been imposed in Shimoga city of Karnataka and prohibitory orders have been imposed in Hassan districtby police. It may be noted that Shimoga is the hometown of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.

The Kannada version of Taslima Nasreen’s article was published Sunday. Ever since the groups of people went on streent in Shimoga and forced the shops to close. The violent mob has pelted stones and set fire to many two-wheelers and several four-wheelers. Later on curfew was clamped on Shimoga city after 4 p.m

There were protests in Hassan as well where also protests have turned violent.
