My Country My Life is an autobiographical book by L. K. Advani, Indian politician who served as the Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004, and is currently the Leader of the Opposition in the 16th Lok Sabha. The book My Country My Life was released on March 19, 2008 by Abdul Kalam, the eleventh President of India.
My Country My Life has 1,040 pages and narrates autobiographical accounts and events in the life of Advani. My Country My Life became the best sellar book in non-fiction category and Advani joined Archer as bestseller author. The book website claims book sold in excess of 1,000,000 copies. The book alongside mentions the event in the Indian politics and India’s history from 1900 till date.
About Lal Krishna Advani
Lal Krishna Advani s political journey began in 1951, when Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee founded the Jana Sangh. The party s ideologue and Chief Organiser, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, was a major influence on his ideology and idealism. Advani was elected President of the Jana Sangh in 1973 and incarcerated in jail for nineteen months during the Emergency. Advani was the Information & Broadcasting Minister in the Janata Party government in 1977-1979 and has served as the President of the BJP for the longest period. He was India s Home Minister (1998-2004) and Deputy Prime Minister (2002-2004) in the Vajpayee government. A Member of Parliament since 1970, and recepient of the Award for Outstanding Parliamentarian , he is currently Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
