A 60 year old man has been arrested for locking up his wife and three daughters for more than 7yrs in house fearing they would be raped if they go out. Francis Gomes has been charged for causing hurt to the victims and wrongfully confining them. The three women were rescued by police on September 29 with the help of an NGO from the second floor flat in Neelambha Cooperative Housing Society at Naigaon in Thane district near Mumbai in India.
Police say that the accused must be suffering from psychological disorders which explains his extreme behaviour of forcibly confining his family inside the house in his absence. The rescued women are undergoing medical and psychological treatment at a city hospital in Mumbai.
