Mercy Ravi senior Kerala Congress leader and wife of Vayalar Ravi dead
senior Kerala Congress leader and wife of Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi died in a Chennai hospital. Mercy Ravi was undergoing treatment for kidney-related problems earlier at a private hospital in Kochi. A week ago she was shifted to Chennai where she was being treated at the Madras Medical Mission Hospital. Mercy Ravi was AICC member. Mercy Ravi had earlier served as General Secretary of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and Mahila Congress, besides the party’s student’s wing Kerala Students Union (KSU). Mercy Ravi represented Kottayam Assembly constituency during 2001-06, defeating present LDF Convener Vaikom Vismam.
Mercy Ravi had represented the country at the World Women’s Conference in Beijing in 1985.
