BSNL strike again! Yes around 270,000 employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) have gone on two-day strike today. The telephone services of BSNL were reportedly affected across the nation. The AIGETOA or All India Graduate Engineer Telecom Officers Association and AIBSNLOA or All Indian BSNL Officers Association and BSNLEUCHQ (BSNL Employee Union Central HQ) are key in organizing thie strike.
The employees of BSNL are demanding a bigger hike in wages than had been offered. Around 20,000 BSNL engineers and 250,000 group C and D employees have gone on a strike for two days on Aug 19 and 20.
BSNL Employees Union is the largest one among the nine BSNL unions who have gone on strike. The employee unions are have the strike together under a conglomerate body The United Forum of BSNL Unions. Their demands include
