Solar eclipse 2009 – longest total solar eclipse in our lifetimes gives boost to Eclipse Tourism

The solar eclipse on July 22 2009 which is visible in India, China, and other Asian countries will be a unique eclipse of the Sun. Sun eclipse or Solar eclipse in india has already generated so much of curiosity that many from across India are travelling to the locations where eclipse will be visible clearly.

The Solar eclipse July 22 2009 has something unique about itself:

  • The duration of this eclipse will be unsurpassed until June 13, 2132 (So for most of us this will be the longest Surya Grahan of our lifetime)
  • The next total solar eclipse will occur in India in 2114 — 105 years from now
  • SuryaGrahan will start at 5:28 a.m and will last to 7:40 AM
  • By 6:26 a.m. the Sun will be wholly obscured by Moon
  • The eclipse will last approximately for 4  minutes from morning 6.26 am to 6.30 am in India and during this period the sun will not be visible at all
  • Total eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 1.080
  • The solar eclipse will be visible in  northern India, Nepal, northern Bangladesh, Bhutan, the northern Myanmar, central China and the Pacific Ocean, the Ryukyu Islands, Marshall Islands and Kiribati

The other places in India where the Eclipse is visible  are Khandwa, Maihar, Mirzapur, Muzaffarpur, Panchmarhi, Purnia, Rewa, Sagar, Siliguri, Silvassa ,Vidisha, Bankipore, Bharuch, Chhapra, Chhatarpur, Cooch Bihar, Daltoganj, Daman, Darbhanga, Dibrugarh, Gangtok, Itanagar, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katihar,

Eclipse Tourism
Eclipse Tourism is already under lot of progress and many Eclipse tourists from across the world have travelled thousands of kilometers to select locations in India and China. They just want to be in the narrow band across the earth where the Sun will be completely covered by the Moon. There are reports that some of the Eclipse Tourists have chartered the private jets that will follow the path of the eclipse from Delhi, flying over any monsoon clouds to get a clear view. It is reported that a seat in such jet will cost about Rs. 1 lac and if you are considering going there – it is already full.
