Nehru planetarium Delhi and Mumbai have indicated plans by various groups for Total Solar Eclipse 2009 Observations. The details are as follows:

Locations from where the eclipse will be total
- Near Surat: Amateur Astronomers Association of Surat(AAAS) and Atmiya Vidya Mandir International School jointly organised a workshop and eclispe viewing programme during 21st-22nd July.The eastern horizon from this school is clear of any unwanted things so we have decided to watch eclipse from school campus.
- Near Ujjain: Plans by Nehru Planetarium and MP Council of Science and Technology for imaging shadow sharpening on the Jantar Mantar instruments. Plans by Nehru Planetarium and MP Council of Science and Technology to interview people all along the road from Ujjain (Just within the totality belt) to Dongla (just outside the totality belt) to determine the exact border of Totality/Partial zone in this region. Plans of hiring chartered aircraft with cost sharing among amateur astronomers – 6 seater flight from Ujjain to Indore to attempt to fly above the clouds and observe the eclipse.
- Near Indore
- Near Bhopal:Bhimbetka Plans to observe from Bhimbetka by MP Council of Science and Technology and Nehru Planetarium, New Delhi. Plans to observe from the terrace of MP Council of Science and Technology. Plans to image the eclipse against the Taz Ul Masjid from the terrace of Gandhi Medical College, if cloud free. Should be possible for about 200-300 people to gather on top of the mountain at Jain Point and observe the eclipse, if it is cloud free.
