Nilu Phule dead
Nilu Phule the veteram Marathi actor and thratre artist passed away today at Pune after a prolonged cancer treatment. Nilu Phule is survived by his wife and a daughter. Nilu Phule a versatile artiste, had acted in more than 130 films, including some Hindi movies, and a number of Marathi plays.
Nilu Phule the veteran Marathi actor was admitted at a private hospital in Pune on 5th July.Nilu Phule started experiencing respiratory problems. Though Nilu Phule has been shifted out of the ICU on 10th July but his condition was critical.
Nilu Phule was suffering from the cancer of the food pipe for the last four months, Phule was kept in the ICU for three days. The cancer has spread to other parts of his body. Two months back, a stem was fitted to ease the discomfort in Phule’s food pipe. A few days before he was admitted he had also suffered a paralytic attack, which affected most of the left side of his body. He can’t talk much, but recognises people. Even at this moment his willpower is tremendous and we hope he recovers soon,” said Gargi Phule, the actor’s daughter.

Nilu Phule was born in Pune in 1931. Nilu Phule made a mark in theatre and both Marathi and Hindi films. His role as a corrupt politician in Jabbar Patel’s Marathi film Saamna’ and a similar negative role in Mahesh Bhatt’s Hindi film Saransh’, are memorable among several others.
