‘Suryaji Pisal’ among the Marathis are the one’s who have helped Congress according to Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray. Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray slammed the voters of Mumbai and Thane for not voting for the NDA alliance in the Parliament elections in the editorial of the Saamana newspaper – the Shivsena’s official News Paper (according to PTI reports)
“The saffron march continued in rest of the state but Mumbai and Thane have given me pain at this age. Congress took help of Suryaji Pisal# to divide Marathi votes. The Marathi voter, who strayed away from the Sena, should explain to us why he did so and what harm had Shiv Sena done to him.” Thackeray
Who is #Suryaji Pisal?
Suryaji Pisal according to history is a Maratha traitor who opened the defences of the Raigad fort for the Mughal invaders in 1689.
By taking this historical reference without naming nephew and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray, the Sena chief said “Congress took help of Suryaji Pisal to divide Marathi votes.” It is obviously clear whom he is referring as Suryaji Pisal.
Thackeray’s comments follow reports that presence of MNS candidates in the Lok Sabha elections was the main reason for the defeat of Sena-BJP candidates in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane.
