Varun Gandhi the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate in Pilibhit Uttar Pradesh who is in jail for his alleged hate campaign speeches has approached the Supreme Court to challenge his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).
His lawyer, former additional solicitor general Mukul Rohtagi, told a bench of Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan that his detention is illegal.
The court would hear his petition on Thursday.
