Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have cracked the two sensational murder cases with the arrest of four persons:
Police said the recovery of weapon used in the murder of IT executive Jigeesha Ghosh (28) led to the solving of the murder of Soumya Viswanathan (27), a producer with a news channel Headlines Today (Aaj Tak Group).
Initial investigations suggest that the murders were not pre-planned and robbery is said to be the motive behind the murders. Both victims were returning from work in the early hours when they were attacked. The arrested persons have been identified as Ravi, Baljit, Amit and Ajay. Ironically one of them Ravi Kapoor was a Police informant and was assisting Police in solving the Soumya murder case.
Soumya Viswanathan was a producer with an English news channel Headlines Today (a sister channel of Aaj Tak). Soumya Viswanathan was found murdered on the Nelson Mandela Marg in New Delhi on September 30, 2008, while returning from the office in her own Maruti Zen.
Jigeesha Ghosh was working with Hewitt Associates as Operations Manager. A resident of Vasant Vihar in south Delhi, had left forn her home from office in Noida in a office cab. The Cab has dropped her near her house but she did not return home. Her body was discovered by Faridabad police three km from Surajkund on March 19.
