The meeting between home ministry and BCCI officials, represented by board’s secretary N Srinivasan, on Monday failed regarding fixture of IPL. In fact more question marks are being raised now.
While IPL organizers, who are trying hard to ensure that the the tournament starts on April 10. However they were told that the Centre and the states will now first have to take care of the Election Commission, which has hinted at the requirement of more forces than what the government had allocated for the polls.
BCCI it seems was told that it cannot hold matches before the polls end in the states which are supposed to hold IPL games. Thus, it needs to come up with a fresh schedule which may even see a change in dates of the opening (April 10) and closing (May 24) ceremonies because in most concerned states, the elections are only getting over in May.
Most of the state Governments have raised their hands and have asked for central security for IPL. Lalit Modi the CEO of IPL seems to be getting helpless as the focus is now on elections and not IPL for all the politicians. The attack on Sri Lankan players in Pakistan was the turning point after which Home Minister Chidambaram has raised issue of security for IPL.
