Airtel has removed ’95′ dialing from its fixed line phones

There will not be any 95 dialing system on fixed line, as the India’s leading services provider Bharti said it has withdrawn 95 dialing. One of Asia’s leading integrated telecom services providers, Bharti Limited has announced the withdrawal of ‘95’ dialing for long distance calling on its fixed line service.

Why 95 is removed?

This withdrawal decision was taken as per the directive from Department of Telecom (DoT), Government of India. This withdrawal came into effect from yesterday (9th March) midnight.

Now what?

After the withdrawal of 95 Dialing, Airtel’s fixed line customers will now be able to call these telephone numbers, which are earlier accessed through 95, by activating the STD facility and dialing the city STD code prefixed with 0. For example, to call Delhi, a customer in Gurgaon will need to dial 011 instead of 9511.

According to the reports, however, Airtel would also provide its customers the convenience of not activating their STD facility but continuing to access the cities which are within 500 kms of a telecom circle. They will need to dial the city STD code prefixed with 0. To access numbers outside of this perimeter, the customer will have to activate his STD facility by calling 121 from his Airtel fixed lined number. The customer will continue to be billed for all calls as per the prevailing tariff.
