Power of Ideas from Economic Times – ideas.economictimes.com
The Power of Ideas is an initiative by The Economic Times to encourage anyone and everyone with an idea to realize his entrepreneurial dream. Ideas will be polished and nurtured with personalized guidance from senior mentors before being submitted to the largest group of investors for funding.
Indian citizens aged 18 years or more as of Feb 20, 2009. You may have just an idea, or a ready business plan, or even a functioning start-up. But if you are stuck for direction and funds, The Power of Ideas will help.
The whole event is in 4 phases:
Phase 1: Call for Ideas: Jan 21 – Feb 20, 2009
Business idea can be submitted in the appropriate Business Summary format. This can be submitted online at www.ideas.economictimes.com, or emailed to etideas@indiatimes.com or posted to “ET The Power of Ideas”, C/o The Editor, The Economic Times in your city (the list of offices is mentioned below). Business Summaries will be accepted till February 20, 2009.
Phase 2: Group Mentoring and Elevator Pitch: Mar, 2009
A Jury comprising ET editors and our partner, Indian Angel Network, will sift through all Business Summaries to arrive at the first shortlist of promising ideas. All shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Mentoring sessions to prepare them for an Elevator Pitch interview.
Phase 3: One-on-one Mentoring: April 2009
Candidates chosen after the Elevator Pitch will form the second shortlist. They will be assigned senior mentors who can be consulted over email and phone, besides face-to-face sessions, over a dedicated period of two weeks, on everything that it takes to create a business plan worthy of investor interest.
Phase 4: Meet the Investors: April – May 2009
The mentored business ideas will be presented by candidates to the largest single gathering of investors. Deserving business ideas will receive appropriate funds.

I am a Chemical Engineer with post graduation in Industrial, Personnel and Environmental Management. At present I am working in Environment Management Division, Steel Authority of India Limited as Deputy General Manager. I am approaching 59yrs now and have one more year left before retirement. I have formed an NGO of a group of professionals and got it registered in 2008. The overall objective of my organization is Environmental Protection, Health Care and Rural Sustainable Development nationwide. I intend to take up Environmental and Rural Health Care projects. I would like to work with these projects along with other team members beyond my office hours at present and would like to involve myself fully with these activities after my retirement in March 2010. I require suggestion from the Expert Group of ET to proceed with these objectives along with raising of fund on no profit no loss basis.
I sincerely thank ET management for giving me an opportunity to express my views and assist to venture for a suitable opening.

I had been working on non-conventional energy, energy saving, waste recycling, etc. I have patented a low cost solar water heater i.e. sun catcher which require a huge finance to meet the demand. Along with this I also have developed a low cost fire wood smokeless stove i.e. chullha and a water purifier.

I am B Tech Production and having 10 years experience of Supply Chain Management. Just left job from a reputed export company . Want to start business which would cater to this northen part of India . As per my experience we were continue looking for a good vendors for Paper Industry and find scarecity for some of raw material which can be manufactured at low cost . Problem is of funds. How to start.

Sir, Now, it is time to use renewable energy like Biogas & liquied fertilizer at our home, which costs very less compared to the use of coocking gas in kitchen & in addition free fertilizer in the garden. one can save fuel bill fantastically.I have plans to work out a household Biogas plant for people who loves environment at large. It is also possible to provide large scale turn key Biogas plants for Highrise buildings, party plots etc. to achieve clenliness as well cheap fuel energy. projects are ready.
It is noteworthy that buyer of the plant will not face any kind of dirt or bed smell
problems. This plant will have to be run by only one person, which will be the only running cost. & there will not be any fuel or electric consumption. The plant will be operational for number of years.
As a matter of fact, in villages this type of plants are in use but with newer design now
any one can install it in urban areas.
I am ready to workout the proposal, with an interested corporate house.

am telling about bank loans .
banks were told ,we r giving wel education loans .
upto 4 laks they wont ask any security on education loan.
it is obsulutely wrong ,
when poor people went to bank ,ask the loan ,
then the bank ask the security .
poor people havnt security,
so how hav to put the security…
how they studywel education….
now am facing the same problem ..
i consulted all banks ….
i ask my education fee just 3 laks .
all banks r tolding ,compulsury u should put the security…….
i dnt hav any security……
nw wt should i hav to do.
